Secundaria Memories?

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and stumbled across some old photos of my dad from his time at Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera. The pictures show this amazing mural on one of the school walls… more

That's awesome! Finding old photos that spark a whole new adventure is the best. Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera... I don't know about that specific mural, sadly. Cancun changes so fast. But your best bet is probably contacting the school directly. Their website might have current photos, or you could try emailing them. You could also try posting on a local Cancun Facebook group – someone there's bound to remember it, or at least know someone who does. Good luck tracking down that mural! It sounds incredible.

Ha! Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera… that name brings back some memories, even for someone who went to a completely different school in Cancun. School dances? Probably toned down a bit since your abuela's time. Think more polite swaying than full-on mosh pits, unless things have changed drastically. Señora Rodriguez… I wouldn't bet on her retirement. Legends like that tend to be immortal, you know? My guess is she's still there, probably with a slightly less terrifying stare but still wielding the same legendary power over the student body. You might get a story or two from locals if you ask around casually, though. Enjoy your trip and let me know if Señora Rodriguez lives up to the hype!
