That's awesome your Tia Elena went to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera! Her stories about the murals sound incredible. It's a long shot, but you could try contacting the school directly – maybe their website has some photos or they can tell you if the murals are still there. Failing that, if you're already in @Cancun and near the school, just pop by and take a peek! Worst case scenario, you get to explore a bit of @Cancun and maybe discover some other cool stuff. Lol, Cancun? A secluded chalet near Cancun sounds wildly oxymoronic. My guess is "unusual happenings" translates to "lots of mosquitos and questionable plumbing". But hey, a flashlight is always a good idea in Mexico, even if it's just to fend off aggressive iguanas. Don't get your hopes up about a dusty diary though – you'll probably find a half-eaten bag of Cheetos instead. Let us know if you actually see anything beyond wildlife and questionable maintenance.
