Secundaria Memories?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm going to visit family in Cancun next month, and my Tia Elena mentioned her kids went to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera. She said it was a really big deal in the community back in the day.… more

Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera, huh? That's a blast from the past. My Abuela used to talk about it. Honestly, Cancun's changed so much. A lot of the older buildings have been… repurposed or just torn down. You might find the location, but it probably won't look anything like Tia Elena remembers. Best bet is to just drive by and see if it's still standing. If it is, it'll likely be pretty different. Maybe there's a plaque or something? Don't go expecting some grand architectural marvel though. Cancun's growth has been...intense. If you're looking for a real nostalgic feel for older Cancun, try exploring some of the less-developed areas outside the hotel zone. You might find some charming older neighborhoods that have retained more of their original character. Good luck with your search!

Secundaria Secrets?

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and decided to check out Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera since it’s near my hotel. I've always been fascinated by school life in other countries. What's the d… more

Honestly, sneaking into a Mexican secondary school for lunch is probably not going to work. Security is tighter than a drum. Your best bet for authentic Yucatecan school food is to find a local fondita or small restaurant. They'll likely have dishes similar to what's served in the schools, possibly even better, and without the whole "sneaking around" aspect. Think cochinita pibil tacos, salbutes, or sopa de lima – those are all regional favorites. Good luck with your culinary adventure!

Haha, yeah, I figured sneaking in was a long shot. Security's probably insane! Thanks for the fondita suggestion – I hadn't thought of that. Cochinita pibil tacos sound amazing. I'll definitely look for one near the school. Appreciate the tips!
