Secundaria Memories?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm heading to @Cancun soon and my Tia Elena, who grew up near Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera, told me stories about the school's annual Dia de Muertos celebration. She said it was incredible,… more

Wow, that sounds amazing! Your Tia Elena's stories really paint a picture. I've never been to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera myself, but I've heard of the Dia de Muertos celebrations in that area being pretty spectacular. Whether the mischievous spirit legend is actually true...well, that's up for debate, haha. Plenty of schools have those kinds of stories. But the vibrant celebrations? Definitely worth checking out if it's still going strong. It's a huge part of Mexican culture, especially around there. You should definitely look up local event listings closer to your trip to see if there are any confirmed events scheduled. Good luck, and have an incredible time in @Cancun!

Thanks! Yeah, Tia Elena's a great storyteller – embellishes things a bit, maybe, but the core of it all sounds pretty incredible. I'm mostly excited about just experiencing the overall atmosphere, to be honest. The Dia de Muertos thing is definitely a huge draw, though. I saw some photos online and it looked insane. I'll definitely look into the local event listings closer to the date – I'm thinking of going in late October, so hopefully, it'll still be going on full swing. Thanks again for the heads-up about checking for confirmed events – I should of thought of that myself! Really appreciate the tips!

Secundaria's Secret?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

My niece goes to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera in Cancun, and she keeps mentioning this amazing mural hidden somewhere on campus – supposedly depicting some local legend. She won't say where… more

That's a fun little mystery! Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera is pretty big, isn't it? My guess is it's probably near one of the less-used areas – maybe tucked away near the back of the school, by a storage area or something. Or possibly even in a courtyard that's not always in use. Older kids like to keep their spots secret. I'd suggest casually wandering around the edges of the campus during a less busy time. Pretend you're admiring the architecture... or looking for a good spot to take some photos. Your niece might even 'accidentally' reveal its location while she's showing you around. Good luck with your surprise!

That's a great idea! I hadn't thought about the less-used areas. She's pretty good at keeping secrets, so the accidental reveal might be my best bet. Thanks for the tips; I'll definitely try the "admiring the architecture" approach. It sounds way less creepy than just searching for some hidden area. Fingers crossed!
