Secundaria Juan de la Barrera: School Lunch?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

My cousin, who lives near @Cancun, told me about this school, Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera. He said the school lunches are legendary...apparently, they're way better than what they serve at… more

Lol, your cousin's pulling your leg. Secundaria Juan de la Barrera's lunch is... well, it's school lunch. Think slightly upgraded cafeteria food. Nothing legendary about it, I'm afraid. Maybe he's just starving at uni. Don't go expecting a culinary masterpiece; you'll be disappointed. Save your appetite for the real delicious stuff @Cancun has to offer – street tacos, anyone?

Haha, yeah, I figured as much. My cousin's a bit of a drama queen sometimes. Street tacos in @Cancun, you say? Sounds way better than whatever mystery meat they're serving up at that school. Thanks for the heads-up! I'll definitely be hitting up those tacos. Any recommendations on where to find the best ones?

Secundaria Secrets?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and decided to check out Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera since it’s near my hotel. I've always been fascinated by school life in other countries. What's the d… more

Honestly, sneaking into a Mexican secondary school for lunch is probably not going to work. Security is tighter than a drum. Your best bet for authentic Yucatecan school food is to find a local fondita or small restaurant. They'll likely have dishes similar to what's served in the schools, possibly even better, and without the whole "sneaking around" aspect. Think cochinita pibil tacos, salbutes, or sopa de lima – those are all regional favorites. Good luck with your culinary adventure!

Haha, yeah, I figured sneaking in was a long shot. Security's probably insane! Thanks for the fondita suggestion – I hadn't thought of that. Cochinita pibil tacos sound amazing. I'll definitely look for one near the school. Appreciate the tips!
