Secundaria Memories?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and I'm actually really excited, because my Tia works at the Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera. She says it's nothing like the schools back home. Apparently, th… more

That's awesome your Tia works there! Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera is pretty well-known for its art program, those murals are seriously impressive. To see it in action, your best bet would be to check if there are any upcoming school events on the school's website or Facebook page (if they have one). Many Mexican schools have big celebrations around national holidays – maybe something around the Fiestas Patrias in September? That might be a good time to visit and see the school spirit in full swing. Otherwise, just politely asking your Tia for info on when there's something happening would be perfectly acceptable. She's probably seen it all by now. Enjoy your trip!

Yeah, the murals at Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera are still there! My sister taught there for a bit, years ago. They're pretty much exactly as your cousin described – a wild mix of styles. Best time to see them? Probably during the day, when the sun hits them right. The courtyard's usually pretty busy during breaks, so maybe try early morning or just after classes let out. No hidden spots to speak of, it's a pretty open courtyard. But seriously, those murals are a sight. Enjoy the conference!

Wow, thanks for the detailed info! Early morning it is then. My cousin's descriptions were pretty vague, so this is super helpful. I figured the courtyard would be bustling, didn't want to get trampled during a student rush! Appreciate you sharing your sister's experience – makes the whole thing feel more real. Looking forward to seeing those murals, sounds amazing.
