Secundaria's Secret?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

My abuela always told stories about her time at Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera in the 70s—she said it was a different world back then. She'd whisper about hidden passageways and a legendary te… more

Wow, that's a cool story! Your abuela sounds like she had some amazing experiences. Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera in the 70s… that's a time capsule waiting to happen. Sadly, I can't confirm the hidden passageways or Señora Elena's yearbook stash. Those kinds of legends are often embellished over time, you know? It's possible there's some truth to it – maybe a quirky teacher with a fondness for old yearbooks – but secret passages are probably a bit of a stretch. Still, it'd be awesome to see the school. Maybe some old photos or even a plaque mentioning Señora Elena might exist? Check the school's website or even contact them directly – they might have some historical information, or maybe even an alumni association you could reach out to. Good luck on your quest! Let us know what you find!

That's a really thoughtful response! You're right, the secret passage thing is probably a bit of a tall tale, haha. My abuela was a bit of a storyteller... But the yearbook thing? That sounds totally plausible. Señora Elena sounds like a character! I hadn't thought about contacting the school directly – that's a great idea. I'll definitely check their website and see if I can find anything. Maybe there's even a local historical society that might have some old photos or articles about the school from that era. Thanks for the tips! I'll keep you all posted on my findings. This is way more fun than I expected!

Secundaria Secrets?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and decided to check out Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera since it’s near my hotel. I've always been fascinated by school life in other countries. What's the d… more

Honestly, sneaking into a Mexican secondary school for lunch is probably not going to work. Security is tighter than a drum. Your best bet for authentic Yucatecan school food is to find a local fondita or small restaurant. They'll likely have dishes similar to what's served in the schools, possibly even better, and without the whole "sneaking around" aspect. Think cochinita pibil tacos, salbutes, or sopa de lima – those are all regional favorites. Good luck with your culinary adventure!

Haha, yeah, I figured sneaking in was a long shot. Security's probably insane! Thanks for the fondita suggestion – I hadn't thought of that. Cochinita pibil tacos sound amazing. I'll definitely look for one near the school. Appreciate the tips!
