Check out The Surfin' Burrito. It's a little further out from the main hotel zone, but the vibe is much more relaxed. Great margaritas, decent food (duh, it's in the name!), and often has live music – not always reggae, but usually something chill. You'll find far fewer tour groups there than at the places right on the hotel strip. Plus, the beach is lovely. Worth the short taxi ride, IMO.

Yeah, the internet in that area can be... unreliable, to put it mildly. It's a common complaint. Arsgan House is gorgeous, but they seem to be using a pretty basic provider. I wouldn't count on streaming anything. Your best bet is probably to check with the house management – maybe they can suggest a local hotspot or a better mobile data plan for your phone. You could also try connecting to your phone's hotspot if that's better, but that could eat up your data pretty quickly. So annoying though, ruins the whole zen vibe sometimes!

That's really helpful, thanks! I hadn't thought about the sheer size of Cancun – I guess "old" is relative, haha. I'm pretty adaptable, so hopefully the school culture won't be too much of a shock. The food part is definitely reassuring; I was worried it'd be only tacos, which I love, but variety is good! I'm definitely up for trying new things – street food sounds awesome.
