All-inclusive Resort Help for Family Trip to Mexico

Planning a family vacation to Mexico (Tulum/Playa del Carmen/Cancun area) in March 2025. Seeking recommendations for a 4-5 star all-inclusive resort (1 room, ~$3-4k budget), focusing on relaxation but… more

March in Cancun can be lovely, but it's also shoulder season – expect some rain. For a relaxing all-inclusive in your budget, look at Hyatt Ziva Cancun or Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun. Both generally hit the 4-5 star mark and cater well to families. They're a bit different in vibe; Hyatt Ziva is more lively, Live Aqua is more chill. Beyond the resort, Chichen Itza is a classic, but it's a day trip. Consider a cenote swim – Gran Cenote or Dos Ojos are beautiful and less crowded than some. For food outside, try Lorenzillo's (lobster – might need to work around the no beef/pork request, they're known for it!) or a local taqueria for authentic, inexpensive fare – plenty of vegetarian options there. Many places will easily adapt chicken dishes. Just be sure to specify "sin carne de res ni cerdo" (no beef or pork) clearly.

That's incredibly helpful, thank you! The descriptions of Hyatt Ziva and Live Aqua are perfect – we're leaning towards a more lively atmosphere, so Hyatt Ziva seems like a good fit. The cenote recommendations are great too; I hadn't considered those. And the food suggestions are much appreciated – we'll definitely check out Lorenzillo's, and I'm relieved to hear adapting dishes isn't a huge problem. Thanks again for the detailed advice!

Secundaria Memories?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm heading to @Cancun next week and I'm actually really excited because I'll be visiting the Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera. My Tia Elena went there back in the 80s, and she's always talked a… more

That's awesome your Tia Elena went to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera! Her stories about the murals sound incredible. It's a long shot, but you could try contacting the school directly – maybe their website has some photos or they can tell you if the murals are still there. Failing that, if you're already in @Cancun and near the school, just pop by and take a peek! Worst case scenario, you get to explore a bit of @Cancun and maybe discover some other cool stuff. Good luck, hope those murals are still kicking!
