Have you looked at Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun? It's smaller than Moon Palace but still has plenty to offer families. The beach is gorgeous, and while it might not have the massive kids club of some resorts, their activities are generally well-regarded. It's usually a bit pricier, but you might find a deal depending on the exact dates. Worth checking their website directly.
That's a great suggestion! Live Aqua has definitely been on my radar, I appreciate the detailed comparison to Moon Palace. The smaller scale is actually appealing, we're not looking for something overwhelmingly huge. I'll check their website for deals – thanks for the tip!

Went there last spring. Course was in decent shape, not pristine championship level, but definitely playable and enjoyable. Greens were a little slow, but nothing that ruined the round. Fairways were mostly good, some patches a bit rougher than others, but overall, it wasn't a disaster. Think "well-maintained resort course," not "PGA Tour venue." You'll have a good time, especially if your group's main focus is enjoying the day and hanging out, not obsessively chasing low scores. Just manage your expectations and you'll be fine.
