I asked locals, checked online reviews... nothing. It's like the perfect Nasi Lemak is a legendary creature, whispered about but never truly found. Seriously, where's the hidden gem Nasi Lemak stall everyone's talking about?! I even got lost in the charming little alleys, nearly missing my Grab ride back. Any locals know the secret?

Limau Purut is a weird one cos its mostly houses and a couple of kedai runcit, so the nasi lemak you're hunting was prob never there to begin with. If you're already in that area, walk toward Jalan Haji Hussein side, there's a gerai near the flats that opens around 6.30am and sells out by 9. Bungkus with sambal and telur mata, under rm5, that's the real one people mean when they say "near limau purut".

jalan limau purut is mostly residential tbh, the nasi lemak action is more around kampung baru or the stalls off jalan raja muda. if u were wandering limau purut alleys u were kinda in the wrong grid. try the morning stall near pasar chow kit instead, go before 8am or the good stuff is gone

kampung baru is where you actually want to be, not limau purut. the nasi lemak at the back of the morning market off Jalan Dang Wangi, near the old flats, opens around 6 and the sambal tumis is proper. i'd skip the famous names, theyre mostly hype now. look for the auntie with the blue tarp, bungkus rm2.50.

Hundreds of birds, all sorts of colours. But I noticed something weird, there was this one section, almost hidden, with just a few really unusual birds, no signs, nothing. They looked...sad? I couldn't figure out what was going on with them. Anyone know the story behind that secluded area? Is it like a bird retirement home or something?

the back area past the hornbill enclosure? i've heard keepers call it the quarantine row. new arrivals & sick birds go there first before they get moved into the main aviaries, so the "sad" look is often just stress from transport or treatment. some of those rare ones are on loan from perhilitan for rehab, they rotate out once they're healthy. if u go on a weekday morning you can sometimes catch a keeper near the gate, they'll usually tell u what's in there if u ask nicely

tbh that hidden section is prob the old breeding block, not quarantine. they used to run captive breeding programs there for hornbills and some pheasant species back in the 2000s, and when funding dried up they just kind of left the structure standing. the birds u saw are likely the last few residents of that program, too imprinted to release so they stay put. if u want the real story ask for the head keeper at the main office, the front desk staff usually don't know much about it.

oh that area near the back ponds right? i think those are confiscated birds from the wildlife dept, smuggled ones that got seized at klia. they keep em there quietly cos some are protected species and they dont wanna draw attention. not a retirement home, more like a holding spot.
