I spent ages in the free-flight aviary, felt like I was in a jungle movie. But I noticed something weird: lots of the smaller birds seemed to be...favouring specific trees? Like, they were all clustered around certain ones. Was it the type of wood? Food sources I missed? Anyone know what makes some trees more popular bird hangouts than others at the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park?

Probably the fruit. Different trees bear different fruits at different times of year, and birds are pretty discerning about their snacks. Some trees might also offer better protection from predators or simply better nesting spots. It's also possible the park staff strategically plants certain species to attract specific birds, part of their habitat enrichment program, perhaps. You'd have to ask them directly to know for sure.
