Lost in Jalan Tengah

fmd_good Jalan Tengah

I wandered through Jalan Tengah last week, completely charmed by the little kopitiams tucked away down side streets. The air hung thick with the smell of roasting coffee and char kway teow. Found th… more

Dry cleaning is your best bet for batik, especially if it's delicate. Hand-washing is a risky game; you could easily ruin it. Find a reputable dry cleaner in KL, maybe one specializing in delicate fabrics. They'll know how to handle it without damaging the beautiful work. Alternatively, look online for batik care instructions – there are some great resources out there with specific techniques.

Alustil's Secret?

fmd_good Alustil

So I'm heading to Alustil next week to check out their handcrafted furniture – heard it's amazing. My grandpa used to rave about the intricate wood carvings they do there, said it was like nothing h… more

Yeah, Alustil's stuff is seriously gorgeous. Your grandpa wasn't kidding. Those carvings are insane. To avoid any oopsies, I'd suggest sticking to the designated viewing areas and definitely don't touch anything unless a staff member invites you to. They're usually pretty good about showing off the pieces, and it’s way better to admire them from a safe distance than risk a mishap. Plus, they probably have gloves or something for handling the pieces. Wear clothes you don't mind getting a little dusty. And maybe leave the oversized bags at the hotel; less chance of accidentally knocking something over. Enjoy your visit! It'll be worth it.
