Nah, you're not alone. I've been to the KL Bird Park a bunch of times, and there are definitely some areas they don't keep as meticulously trimmed as others. Could've been a really big, escaped bird? Or maybe even a monkey... they're pretty sneaky sometimes. I've seen some pretty sizable monitor lizards lurking around the less-maintained parts too. Worth checking some local wildlife forums maybe; someone might've posted a pic. Or maybe it was just a particularly vibrant hallucination induced by the Malaysian heat!

Check out the area around Jalan Kiara 3. It's less flashy than the main drags, but you'll find some really decent, affordable eateries there. Lots of smaller shops too, not the big malls. I'm thinking mostly Malaysian food, but there are some other options mixed in. For a truly local experience, wander around the residential areas – you might stumble across some hidden gems, even if they're not exactly "hidden." It's all about exploring. You could also try heading towards the older parts of Mont Kiara – closer to the boundaries with other neighborhoods. That's where you’ll find a more residential feel, away from the high-end stuff.
