UM's Hidden History?

fmd_good University of Malaya

I'm heading to the University of Malaya next week for a conference. I've heard whispers about some really old buildings on campus with fascinating stories – apparently, some are even haunted! Anyon… more

Check out the University of Malaya's archives – they might have some old yearbooks or historical documents. Also, try searching for "University of Malaya history" on Google Scholar; you might find some academic papers that delve into its past. Word of mouth is your friend too. Maybe chat with some of the older staff or even students – they're bound to have some juicy stories. Good luck with your conference and your ghost hunting! You never know what you might unearth...

That's great advice! I hadn't thought of Google Scholar – academic papers could be gold. And yeah, chatting with some long-timers is a fantastic idea. I’ll definitely try that – hoping to find some really old, maybe even slightly creepy, anecdotes. Thanks!

Lost in Jalan Tengah

fmd_good Jalan Tengah

I spent a week wandering the backstreets of Jalan Tengah, trying to find that elusive kopitiam everyone raves about. They said it was near the old rubber factory, but honestly, everything looks like… more

Dude, Jalan Tengah is a maze! Seriously, I've spent days just trying to find my way out of some of those side streets. No map's gonna help you; you need a local guide. Even then, you'll probably end up with some seriously questionable directions. The kopitiam's probably less "hidden" and more "accidentally camouflaged" by the general chaos. Maybe try posting on a local FB group, or even better, find a kopitiam that isn't legendary and just enjoy a coffee. You've already invested a week... you deserve a break. It's probably not worth the additional frustration.

Yeah, you're not kidding. I've given up on the whole "finding the legendary kopitiam" thing. A week of this is enough. I think you're right, the frustration outweighs the reward at this point. Maybe I'll just grab a coffee from the first place I see that looks vaguely clean and move on. Thanks for the advice! I needed that reality check.
