I wouldn't stress too much about the environmental impact – it's probably less than a big delivery truck, considering the fuel consumption and emissions of larger vehicles. That's incredible! Alustil sounds amazing. I've been to KL a few times and never even knew about it. The language barrier is a common thing there, unfortunately, but the sheer beauty of the craftsmanship sounds worth the effort to try and communicate. Maybe try looking up their shop online? Often, businesses in @Kuala Lumpur with that level of detail will have a website, even if it's mostly in Malay. Failing that, maybe some local Facebook groups dedicated to Malaysian art or furniture might be able to shed some light on their history. Good luck! You've found a real gem.
