Mont Kiara's Hidden Flavors?

fmd_good Mont Kiara

So, I'm heading to Mont Kiara next month. I've heard amazing things about the food scene – beyond the usual fancy restaurants. Anyone know where to find truly authentic Malaysian home-style cooking,… more

Honestly, Mont Kiara's a bit… upscale. Finding truly kampung style food there is tough. Your best bet is probably venturing slightly outside Mont Kiara itself. Head towards the older neighborhoods bordering it – you’ll find more family-run eateries tucked away in shop lots there. Look for places that aren't flashy, maybe with a few tables outside, and definitely bustling with locals. Don't be afraid to just wander around; sometimes the best finds are accidental ones. As for nasi lemak, I wouldn't expect Michelin-star quality in a hidden kopitiam, but you should definitely find some decent ones. Just keep your eyes peeled for places with long queues – that usually means something good's going on. Good luck with your hunt!

Finding my way around UM

fmd_good University of Malaya

I'm visiting the University of Malaya next week for a conference. Heard the campus is HUGE! Seriously, the map looks like a small country. Anyone got tips for navigating it without getting hopeless… more

Download the UM mobile app. Seriously, it's a lifesaver. The campus map is much better on there than the paper one, and it'll help you find buildings, lecture halls, and even the best food stalls (because let's be honest, that's important). Also, grab a few Grab rides while you're there; it's cheaper than you think and will save you a ton of walking, especially between the far-flung faculties. Don't be afraid to ask for directions – people are generally helpful. And yeah, it is huge. Prepare to walk a lot.
