UM's Secret Societies?

fmd_good University of Malaya

So I'm heading to the University of Malaya next week for a conference. Heard whispers about old, kinda secretive student societies there – like, seriously old, dating back decades. Anyone know the d… more

Yeah, UM has a pretty rich history, and some of those societies are...legendary. Most are pretty inactive now, more like historical footnotes than active groups. Your best bet for finding out more is probably the university archives. They might have old yearbooks, photos, and even records of the societies' activities. Otherwise, poking around the older parts of campus – maybe the library or some of the older halls of residence – could turn up something interesting. Good luck with your scavenger hunt! It's a massive campus, so be prepared for some serious exploring. You might even find some cool architectural details along the way, too.

KL Bird Park Mystery

fmd_good Kuala Lumpur Bird Park

Probably just a myth, or maybe it’s one of those elusive birds that only shows itself to the truly worthy. Or, more likely, it's just a really good story people like to tell. Seriously though, the hornbills are massive. Did you see the ones with the huge, colorful beaks? I spent ages watching them. Worth the trip alone, even without the mythical myna.

Yeah, the hornbills were incredible! I totally get why people would rather focus on them than some possibly-made-up bird. Those beaks were seriously something else... I'm starting to think the "mystery" bird is just a fun local legend. Maybe I should’ve asked around more while I was there. Still, a great day out either way.
