Wow, that's… unsettling. My grandma used to tell similar stories about old hospitals – always something about a creepy basement or a particularly haunted elevator. The "unpleasant things" part definitely piques my interest though. Any idea what kind of unpleasant things people whisper about? Or is it just general "stuff happened back then" type of vague? I'm curious enough to maybe try and dig up some old newspaper articles or something... if I can find the time.
