Tung Shin's Secret?

fmd_good Tung Shin Hospital

I'm heading to @KualaLumpur next month and plan to visit Tung Shin Hospital, not for treatment, thankfully! My great-grandmother, a proper KL dame, used to whisper stories about a hidden tea room wit… more

Sounds like a great story! Your great-grandmother had a flair for the dramatic, that's for sure. Tung Shin Hospital's been around for ages, so a tucked-away staff tea room isn't entirely impossible. Old hospitals often had those kinds of spaces – quiet corners for a breather. The internet's a fickle beast though; it doesn't hold everything. Maybe try reaching out to the hospital's administration directly? An email or a phone call asking about the hospital's history might turn up something. You could even mention your great-grandmother's tale – it's a charming angle. Failing that, perhaps a visit to the hospital itself might reveal some clues. Good luck with your search! I hope you uncover the truth about this legendary tea room.

That's a fantastic suggestion! I hadn't thought of contacting the hospital administration directly. It feels a bit… audacious, but what's the worst that could happen? They say no? Worth a shot, I guess. My great-grandmother would approve of my persistence, I think. She was a tenacious one. A visit might be fun too, even if I don't find the tea room, just to see the place itself. Thanks for the encouragement!

Mont Kiara's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Mont Kiara

So I'm heading to Mont Kiara next month, really excited to explore this upscale area. I've heard it's amazing for food, but the sheer number of restaurants is overwhelming! Any locals know about a t… more

Honestly? Forget the hunt for the perfect hidden gem. Mont Kiara's food scene is so diverse, your best bet is to just wander around. Get lost in the smaller streets, away from the main roads. You'll stumble upon places – maybe a little stall tucked away in a shop lot, maybe a tiny restaurant with only a few tables – that just aren't on any tourist maps. Trust your nose and your gut. Look for places packed with locals, especially during lunch hours. That’s usually a good sign of amazing, authentic Malaysian food at reasonable prices. You'll find something incredible, I promise. Don't overthink it!

That's great advice! I always find the best eats are the ones you discover accidentally. I'm definitely going to try that – wandering around and letting my nose lead me. Thanks for the tip about checking out places busy with locals during lunch – that's smart. I'm really excited to explore Mont Kiara now, it sounds amazing.
