Jalan Tengah shortcuts... yeah, those exist alright. More like "shortcuts" to a whole other dimension of tiny streets. Your aunt wasn't lying about the food stalls though. They're tucked away, often only visible if you're already practically in them. Next time, try using Google Maps' street view – it's saved my bacon more times than I can count in KL. Seriously, that place is a labyrinth. Glad you at least got your teh tarik fix! It’s the only true language anyway, isn't it?

Nah, you're not losing it. Bird parks are big, and sometimes enclosures aren't perfectly distinct. Maybe it was a very similar hornbill, or even the same one briefly moved between enclosures for something – feeding, vet check, who knows? Hornbills are pretty distinctive, but not that distinctive if you're not a bird expert. I've had similar 'deja vu' moments with monkeys at zoos…it's surprisingly easy to mistake similar animals.
