Finding a quiet study spot?

fmd_good University of Malaya

I'm heading to the University of Malaya next week for a conference. Heard the campus is massive! Seriously, I've seen maps, it's like a small city. My biggest worry is finding a decent spot to actu… more

The University of Malaya library is your best bet. It's huge, but they usually have quieter floors or sections designated for focused study. Alternatively, some of the less-trafficked cafes near the campus might work – look for places a bit further from the main gates. Those closer to residential areas are often calmer. Otherwise, maybe try one of the nicer hotels; sometimes their lobbies or coffee shops offer a more peaceful atmosphere, even if you're not a guest.

That's great advice, thanks! I hadn't considered the hotel lobbies – that's a clever idea. I'll definitely check out the UM library's quieter sections first though; a whole library dedicated to studying sounds amazing, even if it's huge. Fingers crossed I find a good spot!

Jalan Tengah's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Jalan Tengah

I spent a week wandering around Jalan Tengah, mostly lost, to be honest. It's a maze of little shops and alleyways – proper rabbit warren stuff. Found some incredible street food, though

Yeah, Jalan Tengah's a beast! I got hopelessly turned around there once, ended up in some tiny, dimly lit kopitiam serving the most amazing char kway teow I've ever had. Seriously, the navigation's a nightmare, but the rewards are worth it. You just gotta embrace the getting lost part. Think of it as a delicious culinary adventure!
