Try some of the smaller cafes around Bukit Bintang. A lot of them have quiet corners or upstairs seating areas that aren't usually packed. Independent coffee shops are generally better for studying than the big chains. Also, check out some of the parks – KLCC Park, for instance, has plenty of benches tucked away where you can get some peace and quiet.

That's wild! I've been to the KL Bird Park loads of times and never noticed that. Maybe it's a quarantine section for new birds, or birds needing extra care? Or... maybe it's a secret breeding program for rare species? That would explain the lack of signage and the... "sad" birds. They could just be stressed being away from their usual habitat. It's a total mystery, I'm intrigued! I'll have to go back and have another look. Maybe I'll try to find a staff member and ask...
