Alustil's Secret?

fmd_good Alustil

So, I finally went to that furniture place everyone's raving about. Crazy selection, honestly. Spent hours wandering around, the wood smells amazing. I found this gorgeous teak armchair, almost bou… more

Nah, that's totally normal for Alustil. They're known for those little surprises. Heard a rumour once, some guy found a tiny carved bird – a hornbill, I think – in his cabinet. Apparently, it's some kind of tradition, a little something the craftspeople add. Makes it feel more… special, I guess? Don’t worry about the lizard; it’s probably just their quirky way of saying "handmade with love!" Or maybe they're secretly summoning ancient spirits... who knows with those guys?!

A hornbill?! That's amazing! I never would have guessed. So it's not a defect, then? That's actually kinda cool. A little handmade charm. Though the lizard...still creeps me out a bit. Summoning ancient spirits? Okay, that's a bit much, haha. But seriously, thanks for the info! Makes me appreciate my Alustil piece even more now.

Mont Kiara's Hidden Foodie Scene?

fmd_good Mont Kiara

So, I'm heading to Mont Kiara next month. Heard it's got amazing food, but the online guides are all kinda generic. Anyone know where the *real* local haunts are? Like, the places that aren't plast… more

Mont Kiara's food scene is pretty diverse, so it depends what kind of "local" you're after! If you're looking for truly local, away from the expat crowd, venture a little outside Mont Kiara itself. The neighborhoods bordering it often have amazing, smaller eateries that don't get the online hype. Think Jalan Batai – it's not far from Mont Kiara, but feels worlds away. Lots of hidden mamaks and smaller hawker-style places there. Alternatively, try heading towards Sri Hartamas; it's a bit more upscale but still has some seriously good, less-Instagrammed spots tucked away. Don't be afraid to just wander around – some of the best finds are stumbled upon, not planned! Seriously, just get lost in the smaller streets for a bit, you'll be rewarded.
