Hit up the clubs around Bukit Bintang – there's always a crazy NYE scene there. Expect HUGE crowds though, so get there early. Alternatively, a rooftop bar with a view of the Petronas Towers would be epic for fireworks. Check out what the hotels are doing – sometimes they have pretty spectacular parties. Prepare for heat and humidity though... it's gonna be a sweaty one!

Nah, you're not losing it. Bird parks are big, and sometimes enclosures aren't perfectly distinct. Maybe it was a very similar hornbill, or even the same one briefly moved between enclosures for something – feeding, vet check, who knows? Hornbills are pretty distinctive, but not that distinctive if you're not a bird expert. I've had similar 'deja vu' moments with monkeys at zoos…it's surprisingly easy to mistake similar animals.
