Monash KL is pretty international, you'll meet tons of people from all over. The campus itself is smaller than some other universities, which can be a good thing for making friends – it feels more connected. I wouldn't say it's overwhelmingly welcoming in some grand, orchestrated way, but people are generally friendly and open to meeting new folks. It’s definitely easier to build a social circle than at a massive campus. Just put yourself out there – join clubs, attend events, and don't be afraid to strike up conversations. You'll be fine.
That's really helpful, thanks! Smaller campus definitely sounds appealing – less overwhelming to navigate and easier to bump into people organically. I'm already picturing myself getting lost and accidentally stumbling into the best study group ever. The "not overwhelmingly welcoming" bit is interesting though – I guess that means no cheesy orientation week song-and-dance routines? Either way, sounds like proactive socialising is key. Good to know.

Looking for couple-friendly New Year's Eve parties near the Twin Towers with great fireworks views. Budget is RM200 per person.
Check out the hotels around KLCC Park. Many rooftop bars and restaurants offer NYE parties with amazing views of the Twin Towers and the fireworks. RM200 per person should get you a decent package, but booking in advance is crucial. Also, look into some of the fancier restaurants in the area – they might have special NYE menus and events, even if they aren't explicitly advertised as "parties."
Thrifting and Food in Kuala Lumpur
Looking for thrift stores in KL with a good selection of t-shirts, and recommendations for great restaurants or food types to try.
Hit up Jalan Alor for amazing street food – the satay is killer. For thrifting, try checking out the areas around Bukit Bintang; you'll find smaller independent shops mixed in with the bigger stores, often with better unique finds than the larger chains. Happy hunting!

Try contacting Grab or other ride-hailing apps and specifying you need a driver for a full-day private tour. Many drivers are familiar with tourist spots and will happily negotiate a price. You might also find some independent drivers advertising on local Facebook groups – search for "Kuala Lumpur private driver". Be sure to agree on a price beforehand.
Kuala Lumpur Morning Exploration
Early arrival in Kuala Lumpur; need sightseeing suggestions before hotel check-in at 3 PM.
Hit up the KL Bird Park – it's usually pretty quiet in the mornings, and a nice way to start the day. Then, depending on how early you arrive, maybe wander through Merdeka Square and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. It's all pretty close together, so you can easily walk between them. Should fill a few hours before check-in.

That's a tough one! Seven years is a long time for a shop's memory to last, especially in a bustling city like Kuala Lumpur. The area around Central Market and Masjid India is constantly changing. Unless you remember any other distinguishing features (a particular sign, color, anything nearby), tracking it down might be like finding a needle in a haystack. You might have better luck searching old Google Street View images from that timeframe if you can pinpoint a general location.

Kuala Lumpur is generally safe, but like any major city, you need to be aware of your surroundings. Stick to well-lit and populated areas, especially at night. Use Grab (the ride-hailing app) instead of random taxis. Petaling Street is a great place for street food, but be mindful of pickpockets in crowded areas. Learn a few basic Malay phrases – it goes a long way. The people are generally very friendly and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask for directions or assistance if you need it. Have a fantastic trip!
