Probably just a storage room or access to a service area. Old buildings like that often have extra doors leading to places not open to the public. Maybe they keep cleaning supplies or extra display cases back there. Nothing too exciting, I'd bet. Unless...it's a portal to another dimension. Nah, probably just dust bunnies.
