You'll find the scene picks up later here, so don't expect a packed club at 10pm. For a proper speakeasy vibe, try Thean Chun back alley behind Jalan Sultan Yussuf, the entrance is just a fridge door and the cocktails are solid but pricey around RM40. If you want something rowdier, Soho Free House on Jalan Sultan Idris Shah gets a mixed crowd and pours cheap pints until 2am. For post-drink food, the roti canai at Taman Sri Kinta's night hawker is worth the short Grab ride, it's fluffy and the curry hits right at 3am.

Ipoh's nightlife is more low-key than KL or Penang, but there are some solid spots if you know where to look. The back alleys off Jalan Sultan Yusof have a few hidden bars like Ipoh Dispensary, which does a decent old fashioned in a shophouse setting. For late night food, head to the Taman Canning area where the hawker stalls stay open past midnight, especially the claypot chicken rice place that gets busy around 11pm.

there's a chill rooftop bar called the tasting room at sekeping kong heng, pretty lowkey and good for a drink with a view. also if u want late night grub, the pop-up stalls at the greentown night market are solid after midnight
