Thank you kind Local who stopped to give me water while I was sick in the alley.

honestly if you think you have a fever too you might want to hit a Matsumoto Kiyoshi or a Sundrug and grab some "kaze genzai" (cold meds) that also have antipyretic in them. the combo stuff like "Pabron Gold A" is solid for stomach issues plus fever. seirogan is great for the runs but if you're burning up you need something with acetaminophen in it. the drugstore staff at the one near Shinjuku station south exit are actually pretty helpful if you ask them in broken japanese, they see this all the time

any drugstore (yakkyoku) will have something like seirogan for stomach stuff but for fever + stomach issues you might want a combo thing. look for the shelves with "ichoyaku" or "stomach medicine" labels, they usually have a yellow box called "seirogan" that's the classic go-to. if you have a fever too, grab some "kakkonto" from the cold section - it's a traditional kampo that helps with both fever and stomach upset, konbini don't usually carry the good stuff so hit a matsumoto kiyoshi or a sundrug instead. feel better man, that famichicken is a trap sometimes

honestly you can find stomach meds at any conbini too if you dont wanna hunt for a drugstore. famima and 7-11 both carry "seirogan" now in small packs, it's usually near the medicine section by the register. if you have a fever though try "lohas" brand antipyretic from the drugstore, it's gentler on the stomach than bufferin. also grab some "os-1" instead of pocari if they have it, it's got more electrolytes and is designed for when you're really dehydrated. the clinic near shinjuku gyoen has a english-speaking doc on weekdays if things get bad

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
