I did a search but couldn't find many recent/relevant results.

I was fiddling with my laptop (upgrading the SSD and RAM and installing a new battery) and somehow tore the keyboard ribbon cable so a cluster of buttons no longer work.

I bought a new keyboard off Amazon but actually separating the keyboard from the baseplate thing would require melting/remelting a million little plastic rivets, which I simply don't have the tools to do myself. I asked Asus and they want 13000 yen just to look at it plus whatever else the part costs (keyboard and base plate, I'm assuming it'll be at least another 10000 yen).

I don't need an English-speaking place. I know exactly what my problem is and I have the replacement part in hand. What kind of place will do the job for me with a minimum of fuss?

I live on the Yamanote line and work near Tokyo Station.

honestly just walk into any random PC修理 shop in akihabara, not the big chains but the tiny ones on the side streets. theres one near the yodobashi camera that does small jobs for like 3000-5000 yen cash, i had them swap a screen hinge once. just bring the keyboard and laptop and show them what happened, theyll prob do it while you wait since its just melting plastic rivets with a soldering iron

tbh if you're near tokyo station, check out the small repair shops in the akihabara radio center building, not the main street ones. there's a guy on the 3rd floor who does keyboard swaps for 4000 yen cash, no tax, no questions. i brought him a similar asus situation last year and he had it done in 20 mins while i grabbed coffee at cafe de l'ambre nearby.

also worth checking the shops under the yamanote tracks at akihabara station exit, there's a couple that do repairs for cheap but they're easy to miss. the one closest to the electric town gate has a sign that's just in japanese, says "PC修理" in red letters. they quoted me 3500 for the same kind of work.

Try looking for a PC修理 shop around Akihabara, they often take small jobs without a fee.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
