Anytime gyms that allow you to deadlift without soft pads?

honestly most anytime fitness locations in tokyo are pretty strict about dropping weights, the pads are non negotiable at like 90% of em. the one in shinagawa near the gotenyama exit has a platform in the back corner, no pads needed for pulls, but it's a single platform and gets busy after 6pm. also the meguro one on the main street has a rubberized area but they still want pads for deadlifts off the floor, weird rule.

for oly lifting you're better off at gold's gym in shibuya or a dedicated powerlifting spot like powerhouse gym in kichijoji, those aren't anytime but they've actual platforms. if u gotta stick to anytime, check the one in ikebukuro west exit, they've got a deadlift bar and a platform too, but the staff rotates and some shifts will still ask for pads. just go late night on weekdays, less staff, more chill.

dunno about oly lifts, but most of the tokyo anytime spots are just too small for that anyway. try the one near suidobashi if you're desperate, it's got a bit more floor space but still pads on the deadlift area. maybe just bring your own

yeah that shinagawa one is solid but if u want zero hassle try the any time in gotanda, the one near the yamada denki. they have a platform but it's not for oly lifts, just deadlifts, and the owner is a powerlifter so he doesn't care about pads at all. staff basically never asks. downside is it's small, like 4 squat racks small, so go before 8am or after 10pm.

for actual oly work ur right that gold's is better, but if u wanna stay in the anytime network the one in nakameguro has a deadlift jack and a proper rubber platform in the basement, though u gotta ask the front desk for the key to the oly bar. some shifts won't give it to u if u look new, so bring a buddy who's a regular.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
