I mean I drama with comprehensivle input but at the same time is not too difficult that you don't understand most if what's going on.

If you're advanced, try "The Naked Director" (全裸監督). It's set in the 80s Osaka adult film industry so the language is rough and fast, lots of Osaka-ben and period slang that you won't find in textbooks. The dialogue is dense and overlapping, not the clean studio sound you get in most dramas. I found it forced me to actually listen for meaning rather than relying on clear enunciation. The subtitles are decent on Netflix Japan but they simplify some of the rougher language.

terrace house is good for advanced learners cause the convos are real unscripted japanese. you pick up a lot of casual speech patterns and filler words

honestly if you're advanced, try "the full time wife" (完全に専業主婦). it's a bit older but the dialogue is fast and natural, not the slowed-down drama speech. lots of casual keigo and wife-husband banter that actual japanese people use. the vocab is daily life stuff but they throw in some keigo shifts that'll test you

another one is "midnight diner" (深夜食堂). short episodes, each one has its own little story and a specific food vocab set. the pace is slower so you can catch every word, but the language isn't dumbed down. old people slang, some regional dialect from customers. it's on netflix jp for sure

While the local bacon works well in many recipes, I specifically want the crispy type. Where might I find this style of bacon?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
