What level of Japanese do you need to understand Japanese television dramas?
yeah orange days is a good one for learners cause its mostly just campus talk and sign language stuff. the thing about jdramas in general is the speed more than the vocab, actors tend to mumble or talk fast in casual scenes. for shows set in everyday tokyo like that you're prob fine with N3 but if you ever watch something like "hero" or "doctor x" the legal and medical terms will throw you even if you're N2. fwiw i used to watch dramas at double speed with jp subs to train my ear, sounds crazy but it works over time
yeah you're probably around N3 if you're following orange days with subs. that show's dialogue is pretty clean, like you said it's all uni life and everyday convos. the deaf character's lines are in JSL which is a whole different thing but the show translates that for you anyway
try something like "kounodori" (it's about doctors but the speech is still pretty normal) or "boku no ita jikan" (about ALS, gets a bit heavier but same level). if you can watch those with jp subs and only pause a few times per episode you're fine. the real jump is when subtitles are off and you catch all the mumbled stuff
yeah orange days is pretty standard college talk so not super hard, but fyi most dramas have way more slang and keigo than that. try something like "nagi no oitoma" or "kodoku no gourmet" if you want a mix of easy and harder stuff to test yourself

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?
if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping
kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.
tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
