Do Japanese guys prefer short girls?
His ex girlfriend who was Japanese… So my boyfriend is about 180 cm and I'm 172cm. So there isn't much of a height difference between him and me. Sometimes I wish he was taller or that I was shorter.

I bet he prefered sex with her cuz he couldore easily dominate her as she was tiny. He never said that but If I were a guy I'd prefer a shorter girl. He said that he prefer me and how tall I am, but still. Usually Japanese guys prefer short girls.
i'm 175cm and my wife is 168cm, she's japanese. never once felt like i needed her to be shorter for anything. honestly most guys i know here don't even think about it that much, it's more of an online thing where people obsess over height. the only time height ever came up was when we were trying to take photos together at shibuya scramble and i had to bend my knees lol
your boyfriend is with you for a reason, and it's probably not because of your height. if it bothered him he wouldn't have dated you in the first place, japanese guys aren't that subtle about what they want
honestly i think you're overthinking it based on one ex. plenty of japanese guys i know prefer taller girls, especially if they're on the taller side themselves. my friend whos 178cm dated a 155cm girl once and said it was annoying always having to bend down for kisses.
the whole "domination" thing is a bit of a stretch too. sex dynamics are more about personality and chemistry than height differences. ive seen tiny girls boss around huge guys and vice versa.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping
kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.
tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
