Do you know of a good, reasonably priced nomiya (bar) near the station? Thanks.

I've been going to a little sake-focused place called Sake Shop Nakajima for years, it's about three minutes from the west exit on the side street behind the 7-Eleven. They don't do food aside from some simple snacks but the owner lets you bring in takeout from the convenience store if you ask nicely, and the prices on the sake by the glass are really fair for Meguro, usually around 500 to 700 yen. Sunday evenings it's mostly older regulars and it stays pretty calm, you can actually talk without shouting.

tbh i'd skip the station area crowds and walk about 8 minutes toward fudomae on the meguro river side. there's a tiny place called "sumiyaki" that does charcoal grilled everything, mostly skewers and veggie stuff, they have a decent shochu collection and the beer is cold. it's basically a counter with like 8 seats and the owner runs it solo, sunday evening it's usually half empty around 7 so u can actually get a seat without fighting for it. prices are like 400-600 yen per skewer, pretty standard for the area

fwiw there's a tiny standing bar called "hachi" right off the west exit, it's basically a hole in the wall on the second floor above a shoe repair shop. they pour a mean highball for like 400 yen and the owner is this old guy who'll chat ur ear off if he's not too busy. sunday evening it's usually pretty quiet, good spot to start before moving somewhere else

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
