This guys was introducing himself as a Hollywood and Japan executive producer but to me didn't sound right as the people I know from the industry wouldn't blatantly share their job to a bunch of strangers. I checked his website, very poorly made and I think purposely unclear, and then I googled the guy. It comes out he was one of the chief of some kind of cult and MLM. Here is what I found:

https://www.vice.com/en/article/k78ay3/inside-the-bizarre-cult-whose-members-allege-sexual-and-financial-exploitation

https://youtu.be/cSIUCa-zXrY?si=Fws5Jt1Ysl6MdvDK

Now I'm wondering if I should notify the admin or maybe just leave it as it is. Anyone know if his business is now legit?

yeah that guy's been floating around the Tokyo expat scene for a few years now, mostly on the outskirts of film events and networking stuff. the Vice article is pretty damning and his whole "executive producer" thing is just a title you can buy for a couple hundred bucks on some IMDB knockoff site

i'd say report him to the group admins but dont expect much action, those big FB groups are mostly unmoderated wastelands. better to just warn people in the comments if you see him posting again, there's enough sketchy MLM stuff in Tokyo without this guy adding to it

I'd report him to the admins anyway, even if they're slow. The cult angle makes this different from your average MLM spam, and having a paper trail might help if someone else files a complaint later. Those Vice links are solid evidence.

For what it's worth, I've run into his type at a few Roppongi industry mixers and the real producers there tend to avoid him. The film scene in Tokyo is small enough that people know who actually works on sets versus who just has a business card printed.

tbh the admins of TEN are pretty useless for stuff like this, they barely even remove obvious scam apartment listings. i'd just leave a comment warning people if you see him post again, that way it's visible to others without relying on the mods

also worth noting that real film industry people in Tokyo don't call themselves "executive producers" to randoms, they just say they work in production or mention specific projects. the whole vague Hollywood Japan thing is a huge red flag

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
