Where to find freelance devs, graphists and social media interim people?

I want to launch a side hustle with my own savings. I've 20 years technology and ecommerce experience managing large ecommerce global platforms. What's the best way to find local (based in japan) part-timers for some ecommerce development (students. contractors, etc.). Any hub in Tokyo to meet such people?

With your background you might want to check out the local coworking spaces around Shibuya and Koenji. Places like Co-ba in Shibuya or Koenji Happa have regular networking events where freelancers and students hang out. I've seen decent devs and designers at those meetups, especially the ones organized through Tokyo Dev or Creative Tokyo groups on Meetup.com.

For students specifically, try posting on the Tokyo University of Technology or Waseda job boards. Many computer science grads there are looking for part-time ecommerce work and they charge reasonable rates, usually around 2000-3000 yen per hour. Just be specific about the tech stack you need so you don't waste time interviewing folks who only know PHP when you need React.

if you've got 20 years in ecommerce, you might want to skip the general meetups and hit up the monthly Ecommerce Tokyo breakfast at the Aoyama Grand Hotel, it's mostly mid-senior folks but they often know students or part-timers from their networks. for actual hires, the tokyo gigs section on jmty.jp is way more active than people think, just post in japanese and english and you'll get replies within a day from students at chuo or meiji. also, the tcdd (tokyo creative directory) slack has a freelancer channel where devs and designers post their rates and availability, worth joining for a month to see who's around

with your background you might actually have better luck on tokyo dev's slack or the japan dev jobs discord. there's a channel called #freelance-gigs that gets way more traffic than the meetup crowd honestly. for graphists and social media people i'd check the tokyo creative collective on facebook, it's a closed group but they approve pretty fast. another option that nobody mentions much is the boards at interstitial cafe in jinbocho, students from nearby unis like meiji and chuo post there looking for part-time work. rates there are usually cheaper than what you'd find on platforms too

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
