Best Thai Food in Tokyo?

personally i think the ramen-adjacent stuff gets overlooked. like thai curry udon, is that a thing? no lol. but for the real deal, try the lunch set at krua thai in okachimachi. it's a hole in the wall near the ameyoko market, always packed with thai workers from the area which is a good sign. the green curry there is the creamy kind, not watery, and they give u a whole fried egg on top. 900 yen with rice and a small soup, best value i've found in tokyo.

another spot that rarely gets mentioned is bangkok garden in takadanobaba. it's more of a grocery store with a few tables in the back, but they do a killer pad kra pao with crispy pork belly. ask for it with the fried egg and extra basil, they don't skimp on the chilies. it's not fancy, plastic plates and all, but it hits that homesick craving hard. plus u can grab some frozen thai dumplings on the way out for later.

honestly depends on what you're craving. if it's the boat noodles or that spicy papaya salad thing, head to Amara in Ebisu. it's a tiny spot, like 8 seats, run by a Thai family, and they make their own nam pla. get the khao soi if they have it, it's not always on the menu but when it's there it's killer. prices are a bit steep for the size, around 1500 yen a bowl, but the flavors are dead on.

if you want that street food vibe with a bit more room, try Chang Mai in Koenji. it's a bit scruffy but the som tam there is properly fiery, none of that toned down stuff. they also do a decent moo ping, which is hard to find done right in Tokyo. just know the service is slow, so go when you're not in a rush.

if u want the full sit down experience not just street snacks, check out soi 88 in shibuya near the love hotel hill. they do a proper thai banquet style, like whole fried fish with that green mango salad and a killer tom yum that actually clears ur sinuses. it's not cheap, maybe 3000-4000 per person if u order a few dishes, but the portions are generous for sharing.

also for a quick fix that's underrated, the thai food court spot in don quijote roppongi has a decent pad see ew, though it's hit or miss depending on who's cooking that day. if u go, ask for extra chili vinegar on the side, that's the real test

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
