Anyone going to Acid Pauli @ O-East tonight?
i went to o-east last weekend for a different show, the sound system is solid but the crowd can be hit or miss depending on the night. acid pauli should draw a good techno crowd though, prob your best bet for meeting people. if u get hungry after, the ramen spot a few blocks south on koenji station side is open late and decent for the price.
you can usually spot the crew from womab or forest limit hanging around the back left corner of the floor, they're friendly and speak english. also theres a coin locker row on the second floor past the bathrooms if you don't want to pay for coat check, bring a 100 yen coin for the return type
yeah i'll be there, heading over around 11. the floor fills up from the front so if u want room to dance hang toward the back right near the bar, that's where the sound hits cleanest without being in the thick of it. koenji station's north exit has a tiny standing soba place that's open till like 2am if u need a cheap bite after, 400 yen for a bowl and they don't rush u out

Whitebox in Tokyo 2026: Is It Still Worth It?
yeah the old Whitebox spot got gutted around then, last I walked past it was a startup office on the upper floors. kuramae's decent but honestly Kiyosumi-Shirakawa side is quieter and the rents are still half of Shibuya. miyamasuzaka is basically all towers now.
kuramae's rents crept up too since the tawaman went in, kiyosumi side is still the better bet
agreed on kiyosumi being calmer, but the tawaman effect in kuramae is mostly along the edo-dori side. walk 5 min toward kotobashi & rents drop again. still cheaper than miyamasuzaka either way
whitebox actually closed back in 2018, the space is a gallery-slash-coworking thing now. shibuya's still fine to live in but the rents near miyamasuzaka have jumped hard, more office towers than studios these days. if you want that old creative vibe try kuramae or kiyosumi instead
