Central Mall Tokyo shopping 2026 prices normal?

6800 yen is the tourist markup, not 2026 pricing.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Partly true, but some of it is just the mall itself. Central Mall rents are brutal, so even the no-name shops in there price like that. Walk five minutes to the side streets and the same tee is 2500.

some of it yeah but not all. i popped into a no name shop in Koenji last month and paid 1800 for a tee, plain, decent cotton. tourist spots tax you, but the markup follows the rent, not the passport.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Rent, not passport: side streets five minutes off.

Uniqlo U, 1500 yen on sale.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down
Image ilona local ·

yeah the U line sale racks in Shinjuku are where it's at, tho sizes thin out fast by day two

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image anna local ·

the U line drops in late january too, that's when the real cuts hit the racks

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down
Image elise local ·

late jan is right but the shibuya branch clears stock faster than anywhere else, go first week

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

that's the sale price tho, full price U tee is 1990. check the flagship in Ginza, bigger stock than the small shops so you actually get your size on day one

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

GU on the 3rd floor, 1200 yen basics

Ocean Center in Tokyo still worth a visit in 2026?

Is it still decent for a half day or has it gotten too crowded on weekends? Figured I'd ask before burning a Saturday on it.

The 2024 reno mostly added deeper tanks and a small cafe upstairs, nothing huge. tbh the outdoor penguin area is the best part now and that side rarely gets packed. Weekdays after 2pm are dead quiet if u can swing it.

Penguin feeding at 1:30 is the real draw.

Cafe upstairs closes at 4 though, so dont count on coffee if u show up late.

Weekend entry tickets sell out online by Friday night, so book ahead even for a Saturday morning.

arrow_drop_up 17 arrow_drop_down

Honestly the outdoor bit being quiet tracks with what I saw, but the indoor tanks felt just as busy as before to me. Maybe I went at a bad time.

weekday arvos r dead quiet but check the school holiday calendar first, that flips fast

Image anna local ·

go on a weekday morning if u can, saturdays after 11 the touch pool area gets mobbed by strollers

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down
Image rosalie local ·

yeah sat mornings right at opening, 9:30ish

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

true, and the stroller wall gets worse around the jellyfish tanks cuz thats where everyone parks. fwiw my kid still loves teh touch pool so its worth the early start.
