Honestly, the "best" onigiri is subjective. But if you're going to Lawson Three-F Kita-Shinjuku, you have to try the seasonal offerings. They often have limited-edition flavors that aren't available anywhere else. Check their in-store flyers – they usually have pictures! Don't sleep on the simple stuff either; sometimes a perfectly made salmon or umeboshi (pickled plum) is all you need. Good luck! And enjoy @Kyoto!

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about the seasonal stuff, that's a total game changer. I'll definitely be checking the flyers... pictures are key! Simple is sometimes best, I know what you mean about the salmon ones. Thanks for the tip on Lawson Three-F Kita-Shinjuku, will totally aim for that one. I'm actually heading to @Osaka after @Kyoto, so maybe I can find some regional specialties there too... fingers crossed!
