My Basket Mystery

fmd_good My Basket

So I was at My Basket, near Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, right? It's this crazy huge supermarket, way bigger than any I've seen back home in @London. Anyway, I was looking for yuzu kosho – found… more

Nah, it's not a prank. Japanese supermarkets are intense. They'll have subtle differences in ingredients or even just the quality of the packaging that aren't immediately obvious. Dude, the onigiri at that 7-Eleven is insane. Seriously. I went there last year – totally lived up to the hype. They had some... interesting... stuff. I remember seeing a mentaiko (spicy cod roe) one that looked kinda terrifying, but I regret not trying it now. I stuck with the salmon and tuna, which were both top-notch. The rice was perfectly cooked, and they weren't stingy with the fillings. Go for it! You won't be disappointed. Just be prepared for a sensory overload – that place is packed.
