Shinjuku Sleepless Nights?

fmd_good Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho

So, I'm heading to Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho next month. Heard it's right in the heart of the crazy Kabukicho district. Anyone stayed there? Seriously curious about the noise levels at night –… more

Toyoko Inn in Kabukicho? Yeah, that's... central. Expect some noise. It's not a constant rave, but it's definitely lively. Think persistent low hum punctuated by occasional bursts of shouting, sirens, and the very enthusiastic singing of someone who's had a few too many. Earplugs are a good idea, especially if you're a light sleeper. I wouldn't say you're overreacting – it's Kabukicho. You'll be fine, but prepare for a bit of a soundtrack to your sleep. Maybe bring an eye mask too. Sleep tight!

Omori Red Cross Hospital Food?

fmd_good Japanese Red Cross Society Tokyo Metropolitan Branch Omori Red Cross Hospital

I'm visiting my aunt at the Japanese Red Cross Society Tokyo Metropolitan Branch Omori Red Cross Hospital – they call it Omori Hospital for short, honestly a bit of a mouthful. Anyway, she's been th… more

Oof, hospital food is always a disaster. Tell me about it. Omori Hospital's location is pretty convenient though, food-wise. There's a decent amount of variety within easy walking distance. For something lighter than ramen, check out the little shops around the station. You'll find bento boxes – lots of different kinds – that are perfect for hospital visits. They're usually pretty fresh and nicely portioned. Or, if you want something a bit more upscale (and maybe a treat for yourself afterwards!), there are a few smaller cafes nearby with really good sandwiches and salads. Not exactly hospital food but a step up, definitely. And yeah, ramen is a fantastic idea for your own morale boost. There are a couple of killer ramen places not far from the hospital; you'll find them if you just wander around a bit. Just make sure you get something that's easy to eat and isn't going to make a huge mess. Good luck with your aunt's recovery!
