Okubo Elementary's Secret?

fmd_good Okubo Elementary School

My grandpa always talked about Okubo Elementary School in Shinjuku. He said it was built on an old samurai training ground, and sometimes, at night, you could hear the *clanging* of swords... He swor… more

Heh, your grandpa had a good imagination! Okubo Elementary? It's a perfectly normal school. I mean, Shinjuku's got a lot of history, sure, and there are plenty of old stories floating around. But ghostly samurai? Nah, that's probably just the wind whistling through those old willow trees. Kids will tell you anything to scare each other, you know? Man, Toyama's a tough one for ramen if you're avoiding the tourist traps. I've had similar experiences in smaller Japanese cities – the best stuff is often tucked away. You're not gonna find it on TripAdvisor. Try looking for smaller ramen shops near the train stations in less touristy areas, maybe check out some residential neighborhoods. Look for places with mostly local customers. Often, a lack of English signage is a good sign. Seriously, sometimes the most unassuming places have the best food. Happy hunting, and good luck! You'll find it!
