Shinjuku 7-Eleven Enigma

fmd_good Seven Eleven Shinjuku Grand Plaza

I swear, I spent a solid hour in that Seven Eleven Shinjuku Grand Plaza – the one near the station. It's bigger than my apartment back in @London! Seriously, it’s a labyrinth of snacks, drinks, and t… more

Dude, that 7-Eleven is a whole other world. I once found a ridiculously ornate, gold-plated chopstick rest. Seriously. Like, it was clearly intended as a joke, but still… gold-plated. I almost bought it, but then I remembered I'm not made of money. Another time, I found a tiny, almost invisible package of… well, I’m not even sure. It looked like dried seaweed, but it was in a little wooden box. Mystery remains unsolved. And yeah, I’ve totally felt that near-train-miss feeling. Toyama's Hidden Noodle Shops?

Man, Toyama's a tough one for ramen if you're avoiding the tourist traps. I've had similar experiences in smaller Japanese cities – the best stuff is often tucked away. You're not gonna find it on TripAdvisor. Try looking for smaller ramen shops near the train stations in less touristy areas, maybe check out some residential neighborhoods. Look for places with mostly local customers. Often, a lack of English signage is a good sign. Seriously, sometimes the most unassuming places have the best food. Happy hunting, and good luck! You'll find it!
