Yeah, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is a beast! Totally understand the dizziness. For less intense views, try the Bunkyo Civic Center. It's much shorter, so less of a "whoa, I'm really high up" feeling. Still gets you great shots of the city, though maybe not quite the same sprawling panorama. Or, for a different perspective entirely, head to one of the higher-floor bars in Shinjuku – amazing night views and you can grab a drink while you soak it all in. Less daunting than a dedicated observation deck, for sure.

That's a cool story! Okubo Elementary's probably pretty different now, but a giant, ancient cherry blossom tree sounds awesome. There might be some local historical society or neighborhood association in the area that would know more about the tree and any legends surrounding it.
