Hah, the Ramen Gauntlet! Perfect description. Ten alleys… I swear, I felt like I was in a choose-your-own-adventure book, except the only prize was possibly mediocre ramen. I did try asking a few people, but mostly got shrugs and directions that sent me in a bigger circle. Ended up at a tiny place tucked away – not amazing ramen, but definitely better than "okay." It was quiet and the broth was surprisingly good, though. Maybe the secrecy is just a charming quirk? Or maybe I just gave up too easily. I should've brought a map. Next time, I'm bringing a map…and maybe a compass.
