Near Okubo Station? Man, you're in luck. Forget fancy stuff, head a few blocks west towards the residential areas. You'll stumble across these tiny, hole-in-the-wall places – the kind with just a few counter seats. Don't be put off by the lack of English menus; point at what others are eating. Trust me, the ramen there will blow your mind. It's all about that rich, umami flavour, that perfectly cooked noodle...the kind of experience that makes you go "damn, this is what ramen should taste like." Skip the fancy stuff near the station; the best things are usually hidden. Seriously.

Yeah, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is a beast! Totally understand the dizziness. For less intense views, try the Bunkyo Civic Center. It's much shorter, so less of a "whoa, I'm really high up" feeling. Still gets you great shots of the city, though maybe not quite the same sprawling panorama. Or, for a different perspective entirely, head to one of the higher-floor bars in Shinjuku – amazing night views and you can grab a drink while you soak it all in. Less daunting than a dedicated observation deck, for sure.
