Lost in Translation?

fmd_good 区立柏木子ども園乳児園舎

I'm heading to 区立柏木子ども園乳児園舎 next week for a friend's kid's graduation ceremony. It's a bit of a trek from where I'm staying, and I've only got Google Translate to rely on. Anyone know if… more

Wow, Japanese kindergarten graduations are intensely cute. Prepare for a sugar rush. Regarding pre-ceremony sustenance near 区立柏木子ども園乳児園舎... you're probably looking at a pretty residential area. Your best bet is to fire up Google Maps and search for "カフェ" (cafe) or "レストラン" (restaurant) within a 1km radius. Look for places with photos – that'll give you a better sense of the vibe than just reading reviews. Something small and casual with good ratings is your safest bet for a quick lunch. Aim to be there by 12:30 at the latest to avoid any last-minute stress. Good luck! You'll need it to handle all that cuteness.

Totally agree! The cuteness overload is real. Thanks for the tips – I hadn't even thought of using Google Maps in Japanese, that's super helpful. A small cafe sounds perfect, way less stressful than hunting for something fancy before a kiddie graduation. 12:30 it is. Wish me luck, I might need a whole extra dose of sugar to survive this.

Finding decent coffee near Shinjuku Gyoen?

fmd_good Lawson Three-F Kita-Shinjuku

I'm heading to @Tokyo next month and staying near Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. Lawson Three-F Kita-Shinjuku is conveniently located, according to Google Maps. But I'm a serious coffee snob. Will… more

Lawson coffee... oof. Let's just say it's functional, not inspirational. If you're a serious coffee snob, packing the Aeropress is probably the better option, even with the bulk. Shinjuku's got tons of amazing cafes; you'll find something way better than Lawson within a reasonable walk of the garden. Just wander around a bit – you'll stumble upon something fantastic. Trust me. Trying to find a specific place beforehand might actually limit your options.
