Yeah, Omorisanno Hospital... that place is a total vibe-killer. The legends are pretty wild, I'll give you that. Most of it's probably just exaggerated ghost stories passed down through generations, fueled by the creepy atmosphere. Think decaying building + Japanese urban legend culture = instant spooky reputation. There might be some kernel of truth somewhere in there, maybe a tragic accident or two that added to the lore. But honestly? I doubt there's any grand, undiscovered secret. It's more likely a case of "it's abandoned and looks scary, therefore it must be haunted". The real story is probably just a pretty run-down old building with a great story attached. People love a good ghost story, and that place delivers.

Lawson coffee... oof. Let's just say it's functional, not inspirational. If you're a serious coffee snob, packing the Aeropress is probably the better option, even with the bulk. Shinjuku's got tons of amazing cafes; you'll find something way better than Lawson within a reasonable walk of the garden. Just wander around a bit – you'll stumble upon something fantastic. Trust me. Trying to find a specific place beforehand might actually limit your options.
